Importing Your Planner

Importing from the Files app

Step 1 – Find your downloaded file

Open the Files app on your iPad and navigate to the folder where your planner was saved.

Step 2 – Share to GoodNotes (or your preferred app)

Tap and hold the PDF file, then select Share from the menu that appears. Choose Open in GoodNotes (or another note-taking app like Notability if you prefer).

Step 3 – Confirm & import

If you see a pop-up asking “Open in GoodNotes?”, tap Open. GoodNotes will prompt you to choose a location - select a folder and tap Import.

Step 1 – Open GoodNotes

Tap the New (+) button in the Documents screen, then select Import.

Step 2 – Locate your planner file

Choose your downloaded planner PDF from the Files app.

Step 3 – Import & open

GoodNotes will automatically create a new notebook with your planner.

Using Hyperlinks

Hyperlinks let you tap on tabs and buttons and instantly jump between pages, but they only work when your planner is in Navigation mode — they won't be accessible while you're in Writing mode.

Navigating with hyperlinks

Step 1 – Switch to navigation mode

In GoodNotes, tap the pencil icon on the tools panel. This turns off writing mode and activates navigation.

Step 2 – Tap to navigate

Once Navigation mode is enabled, you can tap any tab, button, or icon in the planner to move around instantly - no scrolling needed!

Step 3 – To go back to Writing mode

To go back to Writing mode, click the Pencil icon again, and the writing tools panel will appear.

Calendars & Reminders

Linking to Apple Calendar & Reminders

Before you start - In order for your planner to link to the Apple apps, you need to install a shortcut.

Step 1 – Enable private sharing

Go to Setting Apps Shortcuts Enable Private Sharing. You can disable it again after installation if you wish.

Step 2 – Install the shortcut

Tap the Install Shortcut button below and follow the prompts.

Adding appointments to Apple Calendar & Reminders

Step 1 – Add an appointment to your Apple calendar

After installing the shortcut, navigate to any daily planning page. Click on the grey dot opposite the hourly slot. An External Link prompt will pop up - click Yes and Apple Calendar will open. Fill in your event details and save.

Step 2 – Add a reminder to your Reminders app 

Click on the pink bell icon on the daily planning page. An External Link prompt will pop up - click Yes and Apple Reminders will open. Fill in the details and save. You can also add reminders from the same bell icon on the weekly planning page.

Adding appointments to Google Calendar

(No shortcut installation is needed}

The Google Calendar comes already integrated with the planner.

Step 1 – Add an appointment to your Google calendar

Open your planner and navigate to any daily planning page. Click on the hourly slot. An External Link prompt will pop up - click Yes and Google Calendar will open. Fill in your event details and save.

Duplicating & Deleting Pages

Step 1 – Go to the page you want to duplicate

Navigate to the page you’d like to copy inside your planner.

Step 2 – Tap the “+” Icon

In the top right corner, tap the Plus Page (+) icon.

Step 3 – Choose placement

Select whether you want to add the new page before, after, or as the last page in your planner.

Step 4 – Select a template

Tap the template you’d like to insert, whether that’s the current page template or a blank page - the new page will be added in the spot you chose.

Copying, pasting & deleting pages

You can also copy, paste and delete pages from the page (...) drop-down menu.

Replacing the Cover

Step 1 – Save your new cover

Download the new cover image to the Photos app so it’s easy to find.

Step 2 – Add your new cover

Go to the first page of your planner (your current cover). Tap the + Page icon in the top right corner. Select Image from the drop-down menu and your Photos app will open up - choose your new cover image. GoodNotes will add it as the next page after your current cover.

Step 3 – Delete the old cover

Swipe back to the original cover page. Tap the (...) More icon (top right corner) and select Move Page to Trash.

This removes the old cover so the new one becomes the first page.

Step 4 – You’re done!

Swipe forward to double-check that your new cover is now at the front of your planner.
